We are currently recruiting a Deputy Manager to support the leadership and daily operations of a therapeutic children’s home within Nurtrio’s residential care provision.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a trauma-informed environment that prioritises the emotional wellbeing and personal development of children and young people. Working closely with the Registered Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining high standards of care, regulatory compliance, and team development.

Salary: £35,000 – £38,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Hours: Full-time (including evenings, weekends, and participation in an on-call rota)

We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and trauma-informed Deputy Manager to join our leadership team in the day-to-day operations of our 3-bed, Ofsted-regulated home. Our focus is on the therapeutic children’s home model, providing care, stability, and a healing environment for children and young people who have experienced significant trauma and may have complex emotional and behavioural needs. In close collaboration with the Registered Manager and the Responsible Individual, you will lead a dedicated team in delivering therapeutic, child-centred care that fosters recovery, growth, and positive outcomes. You will also step in for the Registered Manager during their absence, ensuring consistent, high-quality care and compliance at all times.

A strong leadership presence is essential, along with a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding, relational practice, Psychodynamic thinking and regulatory frameworks to support the Registered Manager. - Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence, ensuring the safe, effective running of the home and leadership of the staff team.
- Support the daily operational management of the home in line with Ofsted regulations, Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, and the Quality Standards.
- Champion trauma-informed, therapeutic approaches to care for children with complex emotional needs, promoting resilience, self-regulation, and personal growth.
- Provide emotionally attuned leadership and supervision to staff, encouraging reflective practice and continuous development.
- Participate in the creation and implementation of robust care plans and risk assessments tailored to the emotional, psychological, and behavioural needs of each child.
- Promote safeguarding and child protection, maintaining a nurturing, supportive, and safe environment.
- Collaborate with therapists, clinicians, social workers, education providers, and other professionals to ensure holistic care.
- Contribute to staff recruitment, onboarding, training, and development.
- Participate in the on-call rota, supporting the home’s operations and decision-making during out-of-hours periods.
Essential:
- Has experience of working with children with emotional or behavioural challenges and understands their needs of children and young people who have complex emotional and behavioural needs.
- At least 1 year in a supervisory, senior, or team leader role within a children’s home.
- NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Willingness to undertake or already working towards the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
- Sound understanding of trauma, attachment theory, child development, and therapeutic models such as PACE or Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP).
- Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop staff within a trauma-informed culture.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
- Flexible and resilient approach to working patterns, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties.
Desirable:
- Experience working in a therapeutic and or a specialist residential setting.
- Training in or exposure to specific psychodynamic and psychosocial therapeutic approaches.
- Full UK driving licence.
