Answers to the questions about home care people ask most
If you’re exploring home care for yourself or someone you love, these FAQs give you straightforward answers without the jargon.
Adults aged 18+ across North East Lincolnshire. Many people we support are older adults living independently, but we also help younger adults with disabilities or long‑term conditions.
We offer practical, friendly support to help you stay comfortable and independent at home. The help you receive depends on what matters to you, but it often includes:
- Shopping support — picking up groceries, helping write a list, or going to the shops together.
- Domestic tasks — light cleaning, tidying, laundry, changing bedding, or keeping things manageable around the home.
- Meal preparation — warming meals, preparing simple dishes, or helping with lunchtime routines.
- Activities and company — a chat, a walk, attending a group, or time spent doing something you enjoy.
- Appointments and getting out and about — support to attend GP visits, hospital appointments, or local outings.
- Personal care — washing, dressing, showering, and morning or evening routines.
- Medication prompts — reminders and reassurance to help you stay on track.
You choose the type of support you want and how often you’d like us to visit. Most people start with a small amount of help and adjust it as they go.
A key safe allows our support workers to access your home safely without you needing to leave your door unlocked. It is a small, strong metal box which is fitted to the outside of your home and is used to store a spare door key. The key can only be accessed by using a personal code number.
It enables any visitors you authorise, such as carers, nurses and Meals on Wheels staff, to gain access to your home with a secure code.
If you’d like one, we can fit it for £125.
Before any support begins, we always carry out a home assessment.
This helps us understand what you need, what feels comfortable, and how we can fit around your routine.
The time it takes to start your care package can vary. Some packages can begin within a few days, and most start within 1–2 weeks.
If your situation is urgent, we’ll always do our best to accommodate this and get support in place as quickly as possible.
Visits start from 30 minutes at £17.02, and you can choose how much support you’d like each week. Your weekly cost will depend on the number and length of visits you choose, and all new care packages starting before 31 July 2026 receive 25% off. Find out more about pricing here.

Yes. Many people choose short‑term support after coming home from hospital or following an operation. It can take time to get back to full strength, and having someone there for the practical bits can make the return home feel safer and less overwhelming.
We’ll carry out an assessment first, so we understand what you need and what feels comfortable.
